Dr. Alpana Choudhury

Associate Professor

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION: MMC, Ph.D

RESEARCH BACKGROUND:

Mass media means technology that is intended to reach a mass audience. It is the primary means of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. The most common platforms for mass media are newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet. The general public typically relies on the mass media to receive information regarding political issues, social issues, entertainment, sports, etc. In India Mass Media is considered as the fourth pillar of democracy. Mass Media has profound impact on the society and therefore it is important to understand the various factors which influence the public opinion and create awareness and knowledge among the people. Considering the effect of mass media I have done my research work on mass media in creating awareness about HIV/AIDS on youth which has extended the opportunity to understand the role of media in educating the society.
