Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, 8th July 2021: A National Level webinar on the Application of Geoinformatics in integrated water resources Management was jointly organized by the Department of Earth Science, USTM in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Gauhati University on 09.07.2021 (Friday) from 02:00 pm. The webinar was conducted in online platform via Zoom Meeting.
Prof. Jnanashree Borah, senior faculty Department of Earth Sciences, USTM, deliver the welcome address and the webinar was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of USTM, Prof. G.D. Sharma. The program was held in presence of eminent personalities from, Universities, colleges and other government and private organizations.
Prof. DhrubajyotiSahariah, Department of Geography, Gauhati University, was the Resource Person of the webinar. Dr. Sahariah has delivered lecture on the Application of Geoinformatics in integrated water resources management. Dr. Sahariah has beautifully explained the concept, dynamic and working principles of geospatial technology and how this technology can be used in various aspects of managing our precious water resource. He has also stressed on Water related disasters like floods, droughts, landslides etc. and how geo-spatial technology can be adopted to monitor and the information can be very helpful in overcoming the problems and decision making. The lecture paved way for us and is a bright light in term or water resources management in this stressful and human dominated environment.
