4th July, 2017, ERDF, Guwahati: Education Research Development Foundation Guwahati, the largest educational network in North East fulfilling the dreams and aspirations, hopes and expectations of the aspirants for higher education, has entered into another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G) on 1st July, 2017. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. U S N Murthy, Director of NIPER-G and Shri. J N Chaudhury, on behalf of ERDF. The purpose of this MoU is to enhance the academic cooperation in the field of research, student’s exchange, internship opportunities for the students of University of Science & Technology Meghalaya, conducting seminars and workshops.
Worthwhile to mention that Education Research Development Foundation Guwahati has set its goal to clinch a position as one of the world-class universities by 2030 and to achieve that goal ERDF has left no stone unturned to excel particularly in the field of research activities, innovations and entrepreneurship. “This MoU between NIPER Guwahati and ERDF is expected to bring better opportunities for research for the students of University of Science & Technology Meghalaya specifically in the field of pharmaceuticals, bio-technology with a specific focus on exploitation of natural and synthetic products of the region for drug discovery and development and also for integrated research on remedies of infectious diseases – stated Dr. U S N Murthy, Director, NIPER. As an educational institution ERDF is working hard to contribute for the development and regional uplift of North Eastern India and particularly for the backward communities of the region like tribal, minority communities and hence NIPER Guwahati will extend all cooperation to help them achive this end – he further added.
Mr. J N Chaudhury, Director, HR, ERDF who on behalf of ERDF signed the MoU, commented “we must acknowledge the fact that India’s higher educations system is undergoing a massive change, it is undergoing a transitory phase and a lot more developments are yet to come. And to bring about an all inclusive economic growth in the NE Region, we must work together, the academic institutions, research organizations and also corporate sectors must work hand in hand. This is the only we can utilize the hidden potentialities lying in our students and this MoU between NIPR Guwahati and Education Research Development Foundation Guwahati, is an attempt to get our students exposed to an advanced research ambiance, upgrated techniques and better research opportunities”.
NIPER-Guwahati is the fifth institute to be included in the list of the premium institutes under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. NIPER-Guwahati started functioning from the month of September, 2008.
The institute was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Fertilizers and Chemicals and Steel, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan on Sept 16 2008 in the presence of several distinguished personals, like the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Tarun Gogoi, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Chemicals Shri Bijoy Krishna Handique, Hon’ble Health Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Union Secretary for Pharmaceuticals Shri Ashok Kumar and Principal of GMCH DR. M.M. Deka, among others.
