Two Days Virtual Workshop on “Learn Google Applications- Through Live Demonstrations”
Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, 3rd July 2021: The Department of Library and Information Science, USTM organized Two Days Virtual Workshop on Learn Google Applications – Through Live Demonstration” on 3rd & 4th July, 2021 supported by IQAC. The workshop was graced by the Vice Chancellor of USTM Prof. G. D Sharma along with the other esteemed invited guests Shri D. P. Tripathi, Deputy Librarian, NIT Jalandhar. The program was inaugurated by Ms. Nandita Barman, HoD of the Department Library and Information Science with a welcome address. It was followed by the address of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. G. D. Sharma on the significance of Google Applications and other tools in the area of interactive teaching and process amidst the pandemic situation.
In the first day of the workshop an hands-on technical Demonstration was initiated by the invited resource person Shri D.P Tripathi, Deputy Librarian, from NIT, Jalandhar, Punjab. He gave the usefulness of Google Applications in our day to day life. He gave a brief introduction about Google Search Engine and some of the Google applications like: Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Form and Google Site in detail. The utilities of Rubric Method in Google Classroom application for in-depth evaluation of any assignment assigned to the students by a teacher are shown live. He also gave a comprehensive exposure right from the creation of an interactive library website by the help of Google Site Application tool to making it readily accessible over the web
On the Day second of the Workshop Shri D.P Tripathi, highlighted the robust search engine for doing research work, specifically related to Google Scholar and demonstrated the different techniques of performing search operations in it, viewing author level metrics and getting important alerts from it. Some of the other applications covered under this session are Google Meet, Google Map, Google News, Google Drive, Google Form, Google Docs, Google Jamboard, Google Calendar, Google Keep and Google Blogs.
