Ph. D Orientation program at University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya

2nd March 2017, USTM, Meghalaya : Orientation for the newly enrolled Ph.D scholars at University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya had conducted today with all enthusiasm and positivity. Around 39 research scholars in different schools namely Social Science & Humanities, Applied Sciences, PQH School of Education, Engineering & Technology, Biological Science and Business Science, have enrolled in the academic session staring from January 2017. The purpose was to make them understand the rules and regulations of the research proceedings, the mandatory one month course work that they have to undergo, the research findings etc.
Dr. R K Sharma, Pro-VC, USTM had welcomed all the scholars and insisted them to be determined to achieve their research objectives and not to get diverted from their research goal. Dr. P G Rao, VC, USTM had emphasized about the Ph.D rules and regulations prescribed for them and asked the scholars to stick to follow the rules. He highlighted the research methodology to be maintained which includes course work, synopsis to be submitted after completion of the course work, timely submission of progress report, abstract to be submitted after the forth progress report etc. He had also stressed the fact that the scholars must attend at least 6 national and international seminars and at least must have two research publications in peer reviewed journal having good impact factor where they have to mention that the work is carried out at USTM.
All the deans of different schools had motivated the scholars and enlightened them why research is so important in academics and insisted them to be innovative in their research findings. Prof. Alaka Sharma, Dean, Student’s Welfare, USTM, had extended heartfelt gratitude and vote of thanks to all the dignitaries present and the scholars as well.
