Observation of World Pharmacist Day 2021
Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, 25th September 2021: The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences USTM observed the World Pharmacist Day on 25th September 2021 on the theme “Pharmacy: Always trusted for Health”.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Prof. Chandana Choudhury Barua, Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati, Mr. Hirakmoy Choudhury, Senior Executive Natco Pharma Limited, Guwahati, Dr. Habibul Islam, Dean, Institute of Allied Medical Sciences, USTM, administration officials, faculties and students.
Dr Habibul Islam laid emphasis on the role of Pharmacists in improving health around the world where they serve as a mediator between the physician and the patient. He stated that pharmacists can serve the nation better through only their experience, knowledge and expertise.
Prof. Chandana Choudhury Barua in her speech said that the purpose of World Pharmacists Day was brought to life at the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Council 2009 in Istanbul to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world. Prof. Chandana clearly mentioned that trust can be gained from pharmacists only through thorough knowledge of the subject matter. Ma’am focused on the scope of Pharmacy especially in the field of research and drug formulation.
Mr. Hirakmoy Choudhury in his address focused on the need that Pharmacist should respect their profession and that they can acquire more knowledge only if they have passion in what they do and hence can create an impact on society. He emphasized on the future prospects in the field of Pharmacy in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research.
The event ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr Sudarshana Borah.
