Dr Balendra Kumar Das, Mehjabeen Rahman, Dr Rani Pathak Das and Dr Alpana Choudhury from USTM addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club today (25th January 2019) regarding the 6th North East Graduate Congress to be held from 15-17 February 2019.
GUWAHATI, 25 January 2019: North East Graduate Congress (NEGC)—the most acclaimed flagship programme patronized by ERD Foundation Guwahati will commence in the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) for the sixth time from 15 to 17 February 2019 with an expected participation of more than 10,000 students from about 300 colleges spread across the North East. The mega event will be inaugurated by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam and Prof. D P Agarwal, Former Chairman, UPSC, New Delhi. The three-day-long event will be graced by a galaxy of prominent personalities ranging from youth icons, intellectuals, academia, cultural and sports icons, politicians, motivational speakers and many more. NEGC is a unique confluence of students’ community of undergraduate level held every year under the aegis of USTM. The main thrust of NEGC is to facilitate the aspiring and budding youth to have direct interactive sessions with renowned academicians, educationists, industrialists and entrepreneurs of national and international repute in a single platform enabling them to shape and mould their career to befit the emerging needs of modern technologies and move towards new horizons for a self-reliant and developed India.
Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club today, Dr Balendra Kumar Das, Director, Administration, USTM said that among the various sessions of 6th NEGC, the session on Competitive Examinations will be addressed by Prof. D P Agarwal, Former Chairman, UPSC, New Delhi whilethe Panel Discussion on “Youth, Politics and Corruption”would be addressed byMs Ruchi Gupta, AICC Jt Secy and In Charge of NSUI;Vijaya Rahatkar, National President of BJP Mahila Morchaand other eminent leaders and analysts from the region. On the other hand there will be a separate session to be addressed by Hardik Patel, youth leader and social activist; Kanhaiya Kumar, leader of the All India Students Federation andJignesh Mevani,a young politician from Gujarat.The cultural evening will be opened by popular Bollywood playback singer Armaan Malik and internationally famed actor Adil Hussain, while the sports events would be inaugurated by Dilip Tirkey, former captain of Indian national hockey team and Arjuna awardee Monalisa Baruah Mehta from Assam.Reputed motivational trainer Thomas John Rose is going to address the session on personality development and soft skills.
The press conference was also addressed by Mehjabeen Rahman, Dr Rani Pathak Das and Dr Alpana Choudhury of USTM. It was stated that all students studying in graduation level can participate in NEGC. Teacher or Coordinator from different colleges or institutions select the students and forward the names to the organizers. All participants attending the Congress are required to fill a registration form and submit to the Organising Secretary, NEGC. Attractive awards including two wheelers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones and cash prizes will be given to the winners of different competitions. All the students will be awarded Certificate of Participation.
Various sports and cultural competitions along with Quiz, Debate, Photography,Painting competitions are being organized during the mega event. Topic of the debate competition is: “Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 is a bane for indigenous people”. The sports competitions include cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi and power lifting.
