NATIONAL PANCHAYATI RAJ DAY
Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, 24th April 2021: Every year 24th April is celebrated as National Panchayati Raj Day throughout the country in remembrance of 73rd Amendment in the Constitution of India which empowers the village as the most powerful institute in the administration system of India. This occasion provides an opportunity for direct dialogue with Panchayat representatives from all over the country as well as recognizing their achievement to empower and motivate them further. National Panchayat Raj day is celebrated to mark the inception of decentralized power. When the country is observing National Panchayat Raj Day, the Department of Rural Development, USTM in association with State Institute of Panchayat & Rural Development Assam observed “National Panchayat Raj Day” through virtual platform. A special lecture on “Vibrant Panchayats- Role for democratic decentralization” was delivered by Mr. Pabitra Kalita, Deputy Director of SIPRD. Students from other departments also participated in this programme virtually. The programme ended with a vote of thanks.
