The International Yoga Day, 2017 was celebrated at University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) on 21st June 2017. The 3rd International Yoga Day, 2017 was celebrated with an aim to generate the awareness of the benefits of practicing Yoga to live and attain a healthy physical and mental health. Mr. Sunil Kumar Sharma and Mr. Partha Deka from All Assam Yoga and Naturopathy Association were invited to address the occasion. While inaugurating the occasion, Prof. R. K. Sarma, Pro-Vice Chancellor, USTM said that, in contemporary day, for confinement of soul and mind the only sincere and promising tool recognizable is the Yoga. In this context Prof. Alaka Sharma, Dean of Students’ welfare welcomed the guests and august assembly by the motivational speech through propagating to make Yoga as a regular habit to overcome the garbage resulted from the present busy and haphazard life style. The Yoga Guru showed different Postures of Yoga such as BHUJANGASANA, BHADNASANA , PRANAYANA and Meditation. Both the Yoga experts illuminated the influences of particular postures of the Yoga. More than forty students along with the faculty members have joined the occasion. Seeing the response and interest the USTM authority has ensured to organize this practice in coming days.
