International Workshop on Role of Physiotherapy in Improving Quality of Life in Palliative Care Patients

9th Mile, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, 13th February 2020: Department of Physiotherapy, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya hosted two preconference workshops of 27th International Conference of Indian Association of Palliative Care, IAPCON 2020 on 13th February 2020. Worshop was held on “Role of Physiotherapy in Improving Quality of Life in Palliative Care Patients” and “Incorporating Spiritually Matured Practices in Day to Day Palliative Care”. Around 160 participants have joined in for the said workshops from the university and other renowned hospitals and universities from Jorhat, Gujrat and Odisha. The dignitaries present for the inaugural programme were Dr. Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, USTM, Dr .P.K. Goswami, Principal Advisor to Honourable Chancellor, USTM and Dr. R.K Sharma, Advisor to Honourable Chancellor and Dr. Balendra Das, Director Administration, USTM.

Around 10 experts from different reputed hospitals of India and abroad like AIIMS, New Delhi, USA, Kolkata, Mumbai delivered lectures and shared their knowledge and experiences on the subject. Physiotherapy hands on techniques were also demonstrated to the participants. They are Dr. Joris Gielen (USA), Dr. Priyanka Gandhi, Dr. Komal Kashyap, Dr. K.V. Ganapati, Dr. Sandeep Babbar, Dr. Nagesh Simha, Dr. Soumitra Dutta, Dr. Seema Rao, Dr. Mary Ann Muckaden and Dr. Procheta Mahanta.
