Department of Applied Biology (Food Science and Technology), USTM celebrated the World Food Day 2018 on 27th of October with the theme “Our actions are our Future. A #Zero hunger world by 2030 is possible”. The programme started with inauguration of the wall magazine by Prof. Dr P.K Goswami, Vice Chancellor, USTM. A poster presentation competition among the students was organized. This was followed by food product exhibition by the participants of the Women entrepreneurship programme organized in last month under the leadership of Dr. Deboja Sharma, Assistant professor by the Department of Applied Biology. Prof. Dr. Basanti Baroova, Professor (retd) and former HOD of the Department of Food and Nutrition, Assam Agriculture University and former professor, IIFPT, Guwahati delivered a lecture on “Hunger- the persistent enemy of progress”, its different determinants and how a zero hunger world is achievable by 2030. Guests who participated the occasion include Dr. T.C Sharma, Dr. S.A Husain, Coordinator of Section, Food Science and Technology. The programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Chayanika Saha, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Biology, USTM.
