Prof. G.D. Sharma, VC, USTM addresses the gathering on the occasion of the 130th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, 14th April 2021: The Department of Political Science, University of Science & Technology Meghalaya today observed the 130th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great enthusiasm at the NKC Auditorium located in the of University campus here. The program started with an inaugural speech by Dr. Md. Nazeer Hussain, HoD, Department of Political Science, USTM and was followed by an extempore speech competition based on the life and philosophy of Dr Ambedkar. The guest speech was delivered by Mr. Abdul Wadud Saikia (Asst Prof USLR) after the extempore speech.

The formal session began with a welcome speech by Dr. Md Nazeer Hussain and was followed by the Keynote Address by Prof G D Sharma, VC, USTM through which he highlighted the values and ideals of Dr B R Ambedkar that the current generation of the Nation needs to inculcate in their life. He also spoke about how Dr Ambedkar came forward a rescuer for the downtrodden and underprivileged and fought for liberty, equality, and justice for all without discrimination. “It is perhaps Ambedkar’s tireless effort which enabled everyone to live with dignity and self esteem in the present Indian society” Prof. Sharma mentioned.

The program ended with a prize distribution ceremony where the winners of both the essay writing and extempore speech competitions were awarded with attractive prizes followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Tanvir Ahmad, Asst. Professor, Department of Political Science, USTM.
