June 21, 2021, 9th Mile, Meghalaya: With an aim to provide the platform to discuss and interact with the latest Technology and Innovation in the field of Agriculture and Allied Sectors, a 3-days long National KVK e-Meet on “Technologies in Agriculture and Allied Sectors: The Current Scenario” was inaugurated today by Department of Rural Development, USTM in collaboration with the School of Agro and Rural Technology (SART), IIT-Guwahati.
Honorable Chancellor of USTM Shri M. Hoque inaugurated the session enlightening the Scientists across the country who had participated in the Meet to highlight the current scenario of technologies in agriculture and allied Sectors.
Prof. A. C. Talukdar, Dean, School of Social Science and Humanities, USTM was remarkably appreciated the effort of Department of Rural Development and addressed the important aspects of the Meet. He added that, “This is a platform to bring and gather the distinguished scientists across the country to present and to make understanding current scenario of technology in agriculture”.
In his address, Dr. P. K. Gupta, Senior Scientist & Head, Director, National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Delhi, highlighted the Present scenario of Onion in the country and suitable varieties. Dr. Shatabisha Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Sepahijala, Tripura, spoke on the role of KVK in uplifting food processing in NE Region. Dr. Swagat Ghose, Subject Matter Specialist (Fisheries) SSKVK, RKMVERI,West Bengal, presented the Integrated Rural Development through different Fish Farming technologies for rural farmers of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.
Prof Sanjukta Patra, Head, School of Agro & Rural Technology, IIT Guwahati congratulated the Department on a happy note asking to make this meet an annual event of as it will steer the technological intervention in the milieu of agriculture.
